Malleval en Vercors

A little detour via a forest road between age-old trees leads to Malleval en Vercors (which can also be reached from the Isère valley by passing through Cognin les Gorges). The poignant and realistic statue of the “Fallen” recalls the tragic events of January 1944 which made the village of Malleval en Vercors a martyr of the French Resistance movement. The superb cirque of mountains and cliffs which dominate the hamlet are perfect for walking and provide a great network of hiking trails.
